Why would I use this book in the classroom:
As a future educator, I'd use this book in my classroom to teach students to ask questions! Minnow wasn't afraid to ask questions. Questions create explorers. In the classroom, and in real life, students will explore many things.
Appropriate grade level:
I think an appropriate grade level for this book is PreK-2nd. At this age, students are very curious. They have all sorts of questions. Students will be able to relate to Minnow the mermaid.
Ideas for unit of study to include the book in and how you might use the book in the classroom:
- Language Arts: I would use this book to teach students about character development. Students will work in groups to create a poster to describe Minnow.
