The Dot by Peter H. Reynolds

 

The Dot is a precious book! It explores the idea of "Making your mark." Everyone is creative, and everyone has their own imagination. As I created my dot, I thought of the colors of the sunset. I visualized the purples, reds, oranges, and yellows that paint the sky as the sun goes down. Like Vashti, I used my imagination. I chose to create my sunset dot, because to me, the view of a sunset brings me peace. 

I think that this book is a excellent piece to read to students, while integrating art. I think it'd be encouraging to have my students hear the story of a child who finds their way. I'd also like to have my class follow up with an activity like this one!
