Why would I use this book in the classroom:

As a future educator, I'd use this book in my classroom to discuss the Vietnam War. Many lives were loss. It's important to share this piece of history with students, to show honor for the fallen.

Appropriate grade level:

I think an appropriate grade level for this book is 3rd-5th. Older students will be able to comprehend the significance of the memorial.

Ideas for unit of study to include the book in and how you might use the book in the classroom:

  • Language Arts/Social Studies: I would use this book to teach the meaning of Memorial Day. I would have students write thank you letters to veterans.
