Summary:

This book is all about the honeybee! The book describes a honeybee's life through fun lyric and rhyme. It begins with an exciting introduction. The noises of a bee are mentioned, but there is not a bee in sight. Finally, the bee is found! Throughout the book, we learn about pollination and honey making from a group of honeybees! There are plenty of illustrations that show the bees and their environment. The bees in the book describe these processes during the spring time. Towards the end of the book, the seasons change. The pictures and words signify this change. In the end, the hive and bees are in spring again!

Why would I use this book in the classroom:

As a future educator, I'd use this book in my classroom to teach students about honeybees! Bees play an important role in the world. This is a fun and educational book to learn about bees and how they work. Students will enjoy entering a bee's world!

Appropriate grade level:

I think an appropriate grade level for this book is PreK-3rd. It'd be a great book to introduce younger students to insects. It is an exciting book that contains a lot of imagery and sound. However, I'd probably read it to 3rd grade students because of the long text and vocabulary. There is plenty of information on bees, and a beautiful poem to tell it!

Ideas for unit of study to include the book in and how you might use the book in the classroom:

  • Language Arts/Science: I would use this book to teach students about organisms/insects. The lyrical text is fun to follow. I'd have students create short poems on honeybees.
