Why would I use this book in the classroom:

As a future educator, I'd use this fun, poetry book in my classroom to teach students about the beauty in the world around us. There is plenty to see and explore. Exploration is an important part of learning. I want to show them that they are explorers.

Appropriate grade level:

I think an appropriate grade level for this book is PreK-K. I would use this rhyming book in these grade areas because these students are young and new to the world. There is still so much for them to see and learn. I think they will enjoy the illustrations in the book. The book is an easy read as well, which is perfect for this age group. They will be able to follow along and say "Hello, Hello."

Ideas for unit of study to include the book in and how you might use the book in the classroom:

  • Language Arts/Art: I would use this book as a read aloud. It contains repetition and rhyme. The students will be able to join in when I am reading. I can also teach students colors, characteristics, animals, and rhyme! I'd follow up the read aloud with an art activity. I'd have the students draw an animal. I will assign them a characteristic, and have them draw an animal that displays it.
